Allahabad HC fixes September 12 for land acquisition case hearing

August 29, 2011 - Allahabad

A full bench of the Allahabad High Court on Monday fixed September 12 as the next date of hearing for the NOIDA and Greater NOIDA land acquisition cases.

The court directed all respondents, including builders, allotees, the Uttar Pradesh Government, the Noida Development Authority and the Greater Noida Development Authority to file their respective affidavits by September 12.

The bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan, S U Khan and V K Shukla said they will start hearing all cases from September 12.

A total of 491 writ petitions concerned with the land acquisition were listed before the full bench today for hearing.

Writ petitions of over 4,000 farmers have challenged various notifications of the state government and the development authorities for acquisition of their lands under the Land Acquisition Act revoking urgency clause and depriving them of opportunity of hearing.

Though the larger bench granted time to the opposite parties to file their affidavits by September 12 but asked the builders to raise their pleas in all the writ petitions in the capacity of an intervenor.
