At least Eighteen people were killed and nineteen others injured as a bus carrying 100 passengers fell into a river in Uttar Pradeshs Bulandshahr District on Monday.
Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh), Oct.11 : At least Eighteen people were killed and nineteen others injured as a bus carrying 100 passengers fell into a river in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr District on Monday.
The accident took place along the bridge of Choiya River.
"There is a bridge, four kilometers away from Dibai on the side of Bulandshahr. The bus fell into the river from that bridge. The whole bus got damaged," said Suresh, a local resident.
The bus fell into the river from a height of around 25 feet.
"The driver only knows what came in front of the bus; we are not aware of it. Suddenly, the bus fell into the river. Some died and many got injured," said Ravindra, an injured person.
Rescue operation is underway, and the police are yet to establish the reason behind the accident.
The passengers were mostly labourers, heading to Badaun district from Ghaziabad to vote in the Panchayat elections. By Sandeep Tayal
