Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Sahas hometown Siliguri celebrates his entry in the Indian cricket squad for the first Test against South Africa.
Siliguri, Jan 29 : Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha's hometown Siliguri celebrates his entry in the Indian cricket squad for the first Test against South Africa.
Injuries to top batsmen Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh forced top-ranked India to name a depleted 15-man squad for the opening test against visiting South Africans in Nagpur from Feb. 6 to 10.
"It's very good that he has been selected in the fourteen member team, no doubt it's a good thing. And we will be very happy, actually happy if he comes to first eleven. There can be no bigger moment for us and we would be very happy if he comes in first eleven." said Jayanta Bhowmick, former coach of Saha.
Born in an average Bengali family of Siliguri, Wriddhiman grew up as a good cricketer at the Agragami cricket academy of the city.
He started to play his first-class cricket from the year 2007-08, though his debut was made a year back in 2006 in the Under-19 team where he scored a vibrant 111.
Saha was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League and has performed extremely well on a number of occasions.
