Seasons first snowfall in Kashmirs premier hill resort Gulmarg brought cheers to tourists on Monday.
Gulmarg, Nov 10 : Season's first snowfall in Kashmir's premier hill resort Gulmarg brought cheers to tourists on Monday.
Snowfall started early on Monday after three months of dry spell. The whole town was seen covered with a thick white blanket of snow.
"We are enjoying after seeing season's first snowfall. We had never expected it, its tantalizing natural beauty, what do I say, all these are unforgettable moments," said Sonal Chatterjee, a tourist from West Bengal.
Locals, who depend on tourism for their livelihood, were also happy after the fresh snowfall.
"This is the first snowfall of the season. Tourists are pouring in. It is good thing for us, the more snowfall, the more tourist inflow. The snowfall benefits us in many ways as we will have better water and electricity supply because of this," said Nazir Ahmed, a shopkeeper.
Besides Gulmarg, which is 55 kilometres north of Srinagar, there were also reports of moderate snowfall in tourist resorts of Sonamarg and Gurez sector and Sadhna pass in Kupwara district.
