New Delhi, June 10 : U.S. Under Secretary of State William Burns on Wednesday met External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on the sidelines of an interaction with some senior Government officials here.
Burns meeting with Krishna was described as a courtesy call during which the former is reported to have briefed the latter about his discussion with Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon held in the morning.
In the morning, Burns had a meeting with Menon and later with Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
Earlier, during Burns and Menon's had held a meet in the morning, bilateral and regional issues, including the possibility of a resumption of a composite dialogue between India and Pakistan, which has remained suspended for the last seven months in the wake of the terrorist attack on Mumbai, in November 2008, figured up.
Menon had reportedly conveyed India's disappointment over Pakistan's inaction in bringing the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack to justice, saying talks with Islamabad could resume after the latter would take concrete steps to address the issue of halting terrorism on its soil.
Burns' four-day visit to India is the first by any senior US official since re-election of the Dr. Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre in the country.
The current visit of Burns is being viewed as a preparation for the planned visit of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in July.
