Three day Parampara Series 2008 kickes off at Ravindra Bharati auditorim
Hyderabad... 4 October 2008: The three day Parampara Series 2008 'Andhri' National Festival of Music and Dance kicked off here at Ravindra Bharati auditorim. Mr. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Hon'ble Minister for Major Irrigation, Government of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the festival late evening on Friday. Over the three days, the festival brings to Hyderabad scintillating performances by artists such as Parveen Sultana (Hindustani Vocal), Ustad Amjad Ali Khan (Sarod), Geeta Chandran (Bharatanatyam), Jayant Kastuar (Kathak), Ganesh and Kumaresh ( Carnatic Violin) and a special production in Kuchipudi dance by Gurus Raja Radha Reddy and their disciples.
World renowned dancing couple, Raja and Radha Reddy opened the evening with Andhri Prashasti in praise of Andhra's cultural heritage. The dance described Andhra, which is the birth place of dancing yakshas and great poets like Thyagaraja, Kshetrayya and Anammacharya and the abode of many holy temples. Andhri (Telugu) is the cultural language of South India and is known as the Italian of the east.
Dance performance by renowned exponents of Kuchipudi Natya - Padma Bhushans Raja and Radha Reddy, and their daughters and disciple Yamini Reddy, Bhavana Reddy and Shloka Vaidyalingam enthralled one and all.
An array of musical compositions, beautifully emcompassing some the most popular and rare ragas on Sarod by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan touched the hearts of the audience.
The festival organised by 'Natya Tarangini' Raja Radha Reddy Institute of Kuchipudi Dance will conclude on Sunday.
