Bangalore, May 6 : Candidates representing the Congress party in the forthcoming Karnataka Assembly elections are confident about their party's performance.
A Krishnappa, who is contesting from Krishnaraja Puram (K R Puram) and Roshan Baig, who is contesting from the Shivajinagar constituency are confident of outwitting their opponents.
They told ANI that this time the electorate was with them.
A. Krishnappa said: "The Congress has thought of different types of infrastructural developments from building underpasses on roads to building tanks, to developments in the educational system of the state".
He also claimed that the previous Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance had done nothing to help the State.
The Congress was the party that introduced the Five-Year plan and "now it is in our mind for a Green Five-Year Plan, which will consist of developments in the agriculture sector to the health issues of the state," he added.
He also claimed that the Congress was behind the IT boom in Karnataka.
"We are planning to build more of these IT parks so that our state can draw more FOREX. The BJP is responsible for the price rise, racism, casteism, and regionalism, whereas we don't believe in all this," Krishnappa said.
Krishnappa said former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda had joined hands with the BJP so that his son could be Karnataka's Chief Minister.
Roshan Baig said that the previous government had been unreliable, converting Karnataka to Kar-Natak.
He said the public now wanted to support the Congress, as the truth about the BJP and its allies had dawned on them.
Commenting on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi campaigning in Karnataka, Baig added, "Modi is like a god in his state, but he doesn't appeal to the people in Karnataka. The people here are more peace loving, and we do not believe in racism and communalism and this has been going on through ages and nobody can destroy the secular integrity of this State (Karnataka)."
