At least two people were injured in fresh violence near Nandigram on Monday.

Nandigram, May 5 : At least two people were injured in fresh violence near Nandigram on Monday.

The incident took place in Gokulnagar. Two Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) members, Gopal Gayen and Utpal Mandal were injured,

Superintendent of Police S Panda said violence was also reported from the Satengabari and the Jambari areas in Nandigram Block II on Monday.

With panchayat polls scheduled for May 11, nearly 500 people have taken shelter in two relief camps at Nandigram Block I and Maheshpur.

The BUPC has been opposing land acquisition for industrialisation.
