Fire destroys chilli market in Andhra Pradesh

A major fire has damaged a chilli market yard in Guntur in Andhra Pradesh today, causing heavy financial losses.

Guntur (Andhra Pradesh) May 3 : A major fire has damaged a chilli market yard in Guntur in Andhra Pradesh today, causing heavy financial losses.

According to the police, about 500 chilli shops were reduced to ash in the blaze. About 1.5 lakh chilli bags were in the yard.

Due to the high velocity winds, the fire also spread to cold storages in the yard and nearby houses.

Police suspect that an electrical short circuit must have caused the fire. They said no casualties have been reported so far.
