Employees in Government offices, public sector undertakings and other public institutions throughout the country observed Anti-Terrorism Day today by taking an oath to eradicate terrorism.

New Delhi, May 21 : Employees in Government offices, public sector undertakings and other public institutions throughout the country observed Anti-Terrorism Day today by taking an oath to eradicate terrorism.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil administered the oath to officers and staff of his ministry on the North Block lawns here.

The objective behind the observance of Anti-Terrorism Day is to wean away youth from terrorism and the cult of violence by highlighting the sufferings of common people and showing how it is prejudicial to national interest.

The objective is achieved and through activities like pledge-taking, organisation of debates/discussions in schools, colleges and universities, holding of symposia/seminars, lectures, etc. on the dangers of terrorism and violence.
