An aftershock of six to seven on the Richter scale is likely to hit the Wenchuan earthquake area in Southwest Chinas Sichuan Province, Xinhua quoted the local seismological bureau, as saying.

New Delhi, May 20 : An aftershock of six to seven on the Richter scale is likely to hit the Wenchuan earthquake area in Southwest China's Sichuan Province, Xinhua quoted the local seismological bureau, as saying.

The Sichuan Seismological Bureau said there is a possibility of the aftershock between Monday and Tuesday, warning local government and people to be prepared for emergencies.

Forecast of the strong aftershock sent many people away from home overnight.
