Supreme Court stays Madras High Court order on Civil Services exam

The Supreme Court has put a stay on the Madras High Court (HC) order which had quashed the results of the Civil Services examination held by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in 2005.

New Delhi, May19 : The Supreme Court has put a stay on the Madras High Court (HC) order which had quashed the results of the Civil Services examination held by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in 2005.

Earlier the Madras HC had nullified rule 16(2) of the rules of the Civil Services examination .It had also given specific directions for the preparation of merit list.

In response,the Centre had filed a special leave petition against the Madras HC order.

The results of Civil Services examination 2007 have been stated to be in compliance with the Madras HC order by the UPSC. With today's order, they will remain provisional pending the final judgement of the apex court.
