Rebutting the speculations about split between the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that both the parties will clinch all issues with India in the forthcoming meeting in Islamabad on May 20.
New Delhi, May 16 : Rebutting the speculations about split between the Pakistan People's Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that both the parties will "clinch all issues" with India in the forthcoming meeting in Islamabad on May 20.
"India and Pakistan should take the advantage of the forthcoming talks to clinch all issues and abolish restrictions on visas," Sharif said.
"We are committed to having good relations with India and this window of opportunity has opened once again and we should make use of it, seize the opportunity to discuss all the issues," the Daily Times quoted Sharif, as saying.
"Frankly, it's not easy but if we have that political will, we can make progress," he said adding that he wanted to abolish the visa regime in both the countries.
Commenting on the split between the parties on restoration of sacked judges, he said, "No doubt it was a setback, but our decision is still to support the coalition and to be their partners in parliament, if not in the cabinet. It is because we don't want to rock the boat."Sharif said he and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari had common interest in ending the dictatorship.
"We are still hoping that we will at least be able to say goodbye to dictatorship and restore a genuine democracy," Sharif said.
He added that Musharraf is still behaving like a military dictator and not like a president."
