Snoring is one of the most widely prevalent disorders affecting over 40 per cent of men and 20 per cent of women. Apart from lifestyle issues, snoring also has serious health implications as it is generally regarded the first symptom of the Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) syndrome. OSA means that the airway has collapsed or is blocked during sleep. The blockage may cause shallow breathing or breathing pauses and can lead to fatal implications like a heart attack.
While it is generally believed that snoring is a malady of obese people, studies have shown that in India, a shocking 7.5 per cent of healthy Indians between 35 to 65 years of age suffer from the malady. Additional studies have shown that 46 per cent of the subjects with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) had a BMI (body mass index) of less than 30 and 27 per cent of subjects with SDB had a BMI of less than 27. Prevalence of SDB was 19.5 per cent and that of OSAHS was 75 per cent in healthy urban Indian males between 35 to 65 years of age. Snoring is a malady that also affects people in physical condition like marathon runners and other athletes.
Snorben is designed to help anyone of any age, who suffers from nasal disorders such as: allar collapsed (collapsed nostrils), deviated septum (bent nose), damaged nostrils and narrow nostrils. Snorben ensures that nasal passages remain open, allowing one to breathe freely through the nose and not through the mouth.
