Srinagar, May 13 : Barely three days after the Samba encounter, security forces gunned down two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operatives, including a self-styled commander of the outfit, in a fierce gunbattle in Doda District.

Acting on a tip-off, police and security forces cordoned the area and launched a search operation in Gandoh area of Doda late on Tuesday night. A gun-battle ensued, in which the two militants were killed.

The deceased were identified as Farhat Hussain alias Mochi, area commander of LeT, and Pakistani militant Abu Raja.

Two AK rifles and a large quantity of explosives and ammunition were recovered from the two militants, sources said, adding the two were going to receive a group of militants of Al-Meran, a shadowy outfit of LeT, who had infiltrated via Samba border recently.

The valley has recently witnessed gruesome killing of six civilians and two army jawans by heavily armed LeT militants in Samba. Later, the two were eliminated by security forces after a 12-hour long encounter.
