Shivraj Patil to review law and order in Meghalaya today

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil will review the law and order situation in Meghalaya today.

Shillong, May 13 : Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil will review the law and order situation in Meghalaya today.

During his visit, Patil will separately discuss the prevailing security scenario with senior State Government, police, army and other defence officials.

Patil is also scheduled to inaugurate the new administrative block of the Assam Rifles. Later, he will address the Assam Rifles Commanders' Conference.

On Wednesday, Patil will fly to Kohima where he will attend the passing out parade of Assam Rifles jawans at Dimapur.

His visit to the violence-hit Nagaland comes close on the heels of state Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio accusing the Centre of not having any policy in holding talks with the Nagaland insurgent groups, which were causing problems for the administration.

The state has witnessed killing of over 20 people since March this year threatening to disturb the peace talks between the Naga rebels and the Centre.
