Ranchi, May 12 : Former Finance Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha, was taken into custody on Monday after he led a demonstration of party workers outside the residence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda here under an agitation programme to protest alleged non-governance in the UPA-ruled state.

"Rampant corruption, scarcity of electricity and drinking water and non-performance by the UPA govt has led to a chaotic situation in the state," claimed Sinha, who also served as the country's External Affairs Minister.

"We will expose the government's failure," Sinha said, adding that in the next 12 days, he would lead party workers from two districts daily and demonstrate in front of the chief minister's residence.

Expressing concern over two Naxal attacks in Hazaribag in a span of five days, Sinha also criticised the state of law and order in Jharkhand.
