RSS flays anti-North Indian rhetoric of Raj Thackeray

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today condemned the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)s rhetoric against North Indian migrants.

Pune, May 1 : The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today condemned the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)'s rhetoric against North Indian migrants.

In a statement released today, the chief of the RSS's Western Region unit, Dr Ashok Kukde, warned against the promotion of parochial politics for short-term political gains.

"If people migrate to earn their livelihood, the remedy lies in removing social and economic disparities. It is also expected of migrants to join the mainstream of local population," added the Kukde.

"The media should refrain from giving too much publicity to the assertions of political leaders and parties which can disturb social harmony and create tension," he further said.

Aiming to create unrest in Maharashtra on the basis of language and region, MNS chief Raj Thackeray is expected to reiterate his stand against migrant workers during his rally on May 3.
