New Delhi, Mar 9 : Delhi Police has seized two gold-plated antique editions of Quran of Mughal era from three people.

Following a tip off, the Special Operations Group (Crime Branch) apprehended Gurdeep Singh, Sanjay Nathani and Prasanjit Biswas from south Delhi.

The police sent a decoy customer to strike a deal on Thursday and after much negotiation, the accused agreed to sell the books for whopping 35 million rupees."Three people brought the editions of Mughal era Quran. After knowing that the antique editions have been brought the three were apprehended," said Satyendra Garg, additional commissioner of police.

The art of book decoration was in vogue during the Mughal rule from the 16th to 18th century AD.

Presently, these books are highly priced but their sale and purchase is a crime as these are considered as a property under the state protection.
