"The Capital's supply was affected due to the tripping of the 400 kv Bawana-Bamroli-Mandola line," officials said.
Most parts of Central, East and South Delhi have been affected.
Train movement in the national Capital and its vicinity have been greatly affected due to the power cut.
Train services have been disrupted on Friday morning due to a major power failure in the Northern Grid, Railway officials said.
More than 50 rail lines are affected and the worst struck sections are Ferozabad-Dadri and Tughlakabad-Palwal lines, where electricity supply was disrupted since 0345 am and 0615 am respectively, a senior Railway official informed.
"The Railways was taking all emergency measures. Diesel engines were being dispatched to resume the services, said officials.
''The electricity supply to the overhead cable, which supplies power to the engine, was completely down, bringing the movement of trains to a halt,'' they added.
'There is no train movement for the last two hours. We are completely stuck at the station. They are announcing that diesel engines are coming to take the train forward," said a passenger on the Gwalior-bound Shatabdi Express.
