The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval for implementation of the Central Sector Plan Scheme of Assistance to States and Union Territories (UT) for Conducting 18th Livestock Census during the Eleventh Five Year Plan period with an outlay of Rs.301.34 crore.
New Delhi, Mar 7 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval for implementation of the Central Sector Plan Scheme of "Assistance to States and Union Territories (UT) for Conducting 18th Livestock Census" during the Eleventh Five Year Plan period with an outlay of Rs.301.34 crore.
The entire funding will be done by the Central Government.
The approval would help in the collection of detailed data on livestock, poultry, agricultural implements and machinery and fishery statistics and infrastructure related to these sectors and their computerization and report publication.
The Livestock Census data provides basis for planning and formulation of schemes aimed at bringing further development in the Animal Husbandry, Poultry and Fisheries Sectors.
Data helps in taking up various research projects in this sector which ultimately guide in deciding the types of programmes to be initiated in the given situations. It provides necessarily required frame for planning and execution of Integrated Sample Surveys meant for annual estimation of various livestock products viz; milk meat, egg, wool.
