Gala premiere of Don No.1 held in Mumbai

The grand premiere of Hindi dub of the Telugu film Don No.1 was held here last evening.

Mumbai, Mar 6 : The grand premiere of Hindi dub of the Telugu film 'Don No.1' was held here last evening.

Bollywood celebrities o thronged the venue. They included Priyanshu Chatterjee, Anjan Srivastav, Dino Morea, Director David Dhawan and stand up comedian Ash Chandler.

Starring Nagarjuna and Anushka, director Raghav Lawrence's film has been running to full houses for the last eight weeks in theatres in southern India, and is amongst the highest grossers.

Sajid Qureishi produced the film while the music of the film is by Lawrence himself.

With this film, Kelly Dorji makes his debut in the Telugu film industry. He was excited about his new innings in the film industry. It may be of interest to know that Kelly after his recent breakup with Bollywood actress Lara Dutta, was looking for a place in the film industry.

"It is a film that has proved itself in the South against all odds. It has run amazingly and has picked up a staggering amount of money. At the same time people have gone to see it six to seven times. I'm very happy that it has received such a fabulous response because we have worked really hard for it and it has shaped up beautifully," said Kelly.

David Dhawan too was excited about the movie.

"I have liked the movie. It's a south production and it looks like a big movie. Nagarjuna is a big hero in South India and Kelly who plays the role of a villain is from Mumbai and that makes it even more interesting," he said.

The storyline revolves around the film's hero Surya (being played by Nagarjuna), who is an orphan and who rescues some street children from the clutches of a drug peddler.

One of the drug peddlers happens to be Raghava Lawrence (the film's director).urya grows up to become a don. The don and the drug pusher become bosomals.

There is a difference in the portrayal of 'Don' in this film. Unlike other dons who are bad guys in the films, this don is a soft natured, honest and a caring guy.

He helps people in distress and ensures that everybody is happy under his rule, thus emerging as a modern day Robinhood of sorts.

Enter the villain, Stephen aka Sikandar (Kelly) who is an internationally renowned don eyeing to expand into India. He approaches Surya and lures him to join him as a partner. But Surya understands Stephen's intent and refuses the offer. This irks Stephen, and his anger makes him eliminate Surya who sets a trap to kill him and expand his mafia empire.

The rest of the story delineates how Surya shields himself from Stephen and eliminates the latter.

The blockbuster is poised for release in theatres across the country on Friday.
