Imphal, Mar 30 : Hundreds of Manipuris on Sunday participated in 'Run for peace' program organised by the Assam rifles regiment of the Indian army.

The annual event aims at promoting peace and harmony in the state.

"Every year we organise this 'run for peace', wherein we get children, women and old people. And we sponsor these events so that peace and harmony can prevail in Manipur," said P.K. Kayastha, Commanding Officer, Assam Rifles.

With a theme of 'Say No to Violence and Yes to Peace', the run saw the participation of people from all age groups, dressed in colourful T-shirts, running to spread the message of peace and harmony in the region.

"We are participating in this run to demand the restoration of peace and work for a prosperous and developed state," said Zabed, a participant.
