North Indian taxi drivers attacked in Mumbai

Four people were arrested for allegedly damaging five taxis, owned by North Indians, in the wee hours here on Saturday.

Mumbai, Mar 29 : Four people were arrested for allegedly damaging five taxis, owned by North Indians, in the wee hours here on Saturday.

It is not clear whether the arrested people belonged to Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

According to police, four motorcycle-borne men stopped three taxis in Worli area at around 2 p.m. The attackers broke the windowpanes of the taxis when they came to know that they were North Indians.

Later, they went towards nearby Lower Parel area and damaged other two taxis, police added.

The arrested have been identified as Ashish Parab, Pravin Pawaskar, Sameer More and Milesh Shelar.

Earlier on March 24, four North Indians had been attacked by a group of suspected activists of MNS.The North Indian victims have filed a complaint at Santacruz police station that they were attacked by MNS activists unprovoked with hockey sticks at Juhu beach after Holi celebrations.
