A resolution has also been passed seeking amendments to the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act and repeal of the Land Acquisition law.
The party asked the Central Government to stop acquiring land for SEZs and not to establish SEZs on agriculture land. It also demanded withdrawal of unreasonable tax exemptions and resolved that all industries be provided a level playing field.
Highlighting the political situation in the country, they said consideration of alliances and electoral adjustments should be done keeping all key factors in mind.
CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan and senior leader D. Raja presented the draft political resolution and political review report respectively.
The political resolution of the party will be adopted on March 27.
Several delegates criticized the UPA Government's pro-US stance and anti-poor economic policies and wanted the party to take up mass protests on vital public issues like the price rise.
They said the danger of communalism should not be underestimated.
Party spokesman Shameem Faizee said most of the speakers had emphasised on the need for strengthening Left unity.
On the sidelines of the Congress, the party is organising seminars on various political, social and economic issues. A public meeting will be held on March 27 at the Nizam Grounds here to signify the end of the four-day moot.
