HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Visits TERI University's New Campus

A delegation from Thailand led by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (Royal Family of Thailand) recently visited TERI University. TERI University is a modern "GREEN" building located at Vasant Kunj in South Delhi, the new campus has been planned to provide a setting that enhances learning and is a showcase of the concept of modern green buildings Showcasing the concepts of resource efficiency and modern architecture.

HRH keenly observed and complemented various features of the building including:

-- Energy efficient lighting and daylight integration

-- Earth Air Tunnel, Variable Refrigerant Volume and Thermal Mass Storage cooling systems

-- Passive Solar Design

-- Water Management, Waste Water Treatment and Rainwater Harvesting systems.

Apart from the architectural tour of the University, HRH was briefed about the various fields and subjects like Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, Water Resources Management, Geoinformatics, Plant Biotechnology, MBA programme in Infrastructure etc which the University specializes in. She was also told about the state-of-the art computer hardware and software laboratory, a GIS laboratory, the video-conferencing facilities and the University library which is South Asia's most comprehensive library on energy and environment.

The Vice-Chancellor of TERI University Dr Vibha Dhawan expressed her interest for exchange programmes for the students and faculty members between the two countries and hoped to work together on spreading educational awareness on environmental issues.
