New Delhi, Mar 24 : A large number of exiled Tibetans staged a protest here today against alleged Chinese atrocities in Tibet.
With black bands tied around their heads, the protestors observed 'Black Day' by raising 15 black flags, symbolising 15 days of 'brutal repression' by the Chinese in Tibet.
Members of Tibetan Parliament in exile along with a few monks joined the protestors in their fight against the Chinese authorities.
Voicing their anger against Chinese, the protestors blamed the Chinese for forcing the Tibetans to resort to protests and demos.
"The way they oppressed the Tibetans for past four decades, it is because of this only that the Tibetans could not repress their urge to come out in the open to express their feelings. Only seven monks had come out who were brutally beaten up and locked up by the Chinese," Wangchuk, member of Tibetan parliament in exile.
"In reaction to which the Tibetans took to streets in Lhasa which later spread to other parts of Tibet. It is their (Chinese) own doing that they are facing so much opposition today," added Wangchuk.
Later, the Tibetans also shaved their heads to mourn the deaths following the Chinese crack down in Tibet.
The protestors also staged a street play depicting Chinese atrocities on their fellow citizens in Tibet.
