The Bombay High Court today declared construction on 120 acres of land in the city illegal which could affect the lives and livelihood of atleast 1.5 lakh families. The construction carried out in Mulund, Borivli and Bhandup areas was done on forest land, the court said.

Mumbai, Mar 24 : The Bombay High Court today declared construction on 120 acres of land in the city illegal which could affect the lives and livelihood of atleast 1.5 lakh families. The construction carried out in Mulund, Borivli and Bhandup areas was done on forest land, the court said.

Earlier, the land in question was notified as private forest land, but the Maharastra Government later renotified it as government forest land.

The Bombay High Court upheld the Government's move.
