Nation pays tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev

Nation today paid tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, the great martyrs of the country.

New Delhi, Mar 23 : Nation today paid tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, the great martyrs of the country.

On this day in 1931, Bhagat Singh along with Rajguru and Sukhdev were given death sentence.

Rajguru was the accomplice of Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev in killing a British police officer in Ferozpur in 1928 in order to take revenge for the death of veteran leader Lala Lajpat Rai due to excessive police beating.

This is the reason why all three of them were convicted of the crime and hanged on March 23, 1931.

In Punjab, the state-level Shradhanjali Samagams are being organised at Hussainwala in Ferozepur District where the last rites of the three were performed on the bank of Satluj river and at the native village of hagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan in Nawan Shahar.
