At least three army personnel were killed and other two injured during a field firing exercise in the Pokhran Range on Wednesday.

New Delhi, Mar 20 : At least three army personnel were killed and other two injured during a field firing exercise in the Pokhran Range on Wednesday.

A-125 mm mortar gun exploded during field firing exercise in the Pokharan Range on Wednesday at around 2:00 p.m.

One jawan and two hawaldar of the Light Artillery were killed in the incident, while one jawan and one junior commissioned officer of the same regiment were injured, said sources.

According to official sources, accident occurred due to explosion of bomb inside the barrel of the gun.

The army had ordered a court of inquiry into the incident, said sources.

At the same time, the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force were jointly conducting large-scale war manoeuvres in the Thar Desert.
