Mayawati promises uplifment of all communities in Haryana

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati is making political advances in Haryana, where she promised upliftment of all the communities in the State if her party comes to power.

Karnal (Haryana), Mar 2 : Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati is making political advances in Haryana, where she promised upliftment of all the communities in the State if her party comes to power.

While addressing a rally at Karnal today, she said the Jat community has always maintained their dominance in the State politics, making it unfeasible for other communities to play a decisive role in the political spectrum.

"I want to assure other communities, the people living here that if in future my party comes to power then we will elect a person of a community other than the Jat community as the State Chief Minister," Mayawati said.

Mayawati, playing the dalit (under privileged communities) card, stormed to power in Uttar Pradesh to the surprise of many political analysts and unseated the ruling Samajwadi Party in the State last year.

The ruling Congress party has appointed a leader belonging to a low-caste community as its new State party Chief to checkmate Mayawati's growing influence in Haryana.
