The day on which National Security Advisor M K Naryanan said that Tamil Nadu and Kerala had presence of small pockets of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) P Rajendran said that there were 60 check posts set up along the coastal areas intensifying patrolling to check infiltration of the rebels into the state.

Coimbatore, Mar 17 : The day on which National Security Advisor M K Naryanan said that Tamil Nadu and Kerala had presence of small pockets of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) P Rajendran said that there were 60 check posts set up along the coastal areas intensifying patrolling to check infiltration of the rebels into the state.

After inaugurating police quarters, Rajendran denied any LTTE or Naxal infiltration into the State, but said the police had intensified patrolling.

Police had formed special teams to counter Naxal threat in all the districts and were being given special training, the DGP told reporters yesterday.
