Bhopinder Singh sworn in as the new Lt Governor of Puducherry

Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lieutenant Governor Bhopinder Singh was sworn in as Lt Governor of Puducherry here today.

Puducherry, Mar 15 : Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lieutenant Governor Bhopinder Singh was sworn in as Lt Governor of Puducherry here today.

Singh was given additional charge of Puducherry in the wake of Lieutenant Governor Mukut Mithi's resignation.

Chief Justice of the Union Territory of Puducherry D Krishnaraja administered the oath to Singh at a ceremony held at Raj Nivas.

Puducherry's Assembly Speaker R Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister N Rangasamy, his cabinet colleagues, French Counsel General Joelle Rayet and leaders from various political parties also attended the ceremony.

Mithi resigned from the post on March 12 to contest for the Rajya Sabha elections from his home State Arunachal Pradesh.
