The Indian Government has said that it will not tolerate Tibetan exiles carrying out anti-Chinese activities from its soil and warned that it will deal with such public disruptions strongly.
New Delhi/Dharamshala, Mar 14 : The Indian Government has said that it will not tolerate Tibetan exiles carrying out anti-Chinese activities from its soil and warned that it will deal with such public disruptions strongly.
"Government of India does not permit Tibetans to engage in any anti-China political activities in India, and any person whether an Indian national or a foreigner is required to possess valid travel document to cross international borders," said a government spokesman on Thursday.
"Without possessing such travel documents, it is illegal to attempt crossing international borders. The Government of India has the responsibility to maintain public order. Any activity, which causes disruption, would be dealt with in accordance with laws of India," he added.
The warning came as police in Dharamsala arrested around 100 Tibetans protesting against the staging of the Beijing Olympics.
Police told the marchers to stay in Kangra District until further notice.
Earlier this week, thousands of Chinese security personnel fired teargas to try to disperse over 600 monks who were taking part in rare street protests in Tibet.
The Dalai Lama has rejected the Chinese accusation that he was trying to sabotage the Olympics.
