Panaji, Mar 14 : Goa Finance Minister Dayanand Narvekar on Friday said that the Goa Government has decided to ban sale of land to foreigners.

Narvekar told reporters that the government would bring in a suitable legislation in the assembly to amend the India Registration Act, 1908 to restrain foreigners from purchasing any land in the state.

So far over 400 foreign nationals have purchased land in different parts of the state especially along the coastal belt.

The matter was under the scanner of the State Government as well as the Central Government in 2007 following findings that a large number of foreigners own properties in Goa.
