BJP criticises Governors preference for Congress in Meghalaya

Bhartiya Janta Party leaders today criticised Meghalaya Governor S S Sidhus decision to invite the Congress to form the Government.

New Delhi, Mar 11 : Bhartiya Janta Party leaders today criticised Meghalaya Governor S S Sidhu's decision to invite the Congress to form the Government.

"It was unfortunate that the opposition with alliance bagged 31 out of 60 seats but still was not invited," they said.

Later talking to reporters, Party spokesman V.K. Malhotra said, "It was shocking that the governor preferred Congress Party, which won only 25 seats. This act amounts to murder of democracy."

He blamed the Congress leaders for misleading farmers about the debt waiver package. He said the BJP has decided to organize nation-wide rallies to inform the farmers about the ground realities.
