New Delhi, June 2 : Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said that an all party meeting would be called to resolve the Hongenakkal issue after his Government passes the vote of confidence later this week.
Addressing a press conference here, he called on the Central Government and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr. M Karunanidhi to sit across the table and discuss the issue.
He said he was ready to meet anybody, including Karunanidhi, to resolve an issue that has put Karnataka on a collision course with Tamil Nadu.
This Rs 1,334 crore project is meant to provide drinking water to the water-starved districts of Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri that border Karnataka.
arunanidhi had stopped the implementation of project in April after violence broke out in both states.
He had stated that his Government would "wait " till a popular Government was installed in Karnataka.
After the three-phased polling in Karnataka ended on May 22, Karunanidhi had given his approval for the resumption of the project and had instructed officials to complete the work by 2011.
Karunanidhi had declared that the schedule for the commencement of the project would be strictly followed. Work was progressing as per schedule and there was no need to write to the Centre or to Karnataka, as demanded by some.
