A portion of the SDOs office was blown up by the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) rebels today in Munger district during the 24-hour bandh called in five east Bihar districts.

Patna, Jun 2 : A portion of the SDO's office was blown up by the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) rebels today in Munger district during the 24-hour bandh called in five east Bihar districts.

They also looted foodgrains from an FCI godown in Munger district and blew up a railway track in adjoining Jamui district.

The shutdown was called to protest the recent arrest of their five cadres.

Traffic on Patna-Howrah line was disrupted when Naxalites blasted the up track between Narganjo and Ghorparan stations in Jamui district around 3.20 a.m.

Though no casualty was reported, as nobody was present at the time of the incident, a room of the SDO's office was completely destroyed.

The Maoists have called a 24-hour shutdown since midnight to protest the arrest of their five comrades, including a member of its Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and North Chhattisgarh Special Area Committee, Sunil Marandi, in Lakhisarai District on May 30.

Meanwhile, the Maoists killed at least three persons in in Tamaar village in Jharkhand on Monday.

Reportedly, the CPI-Maoist held a Jan Adalat (People's Courts) in the jungles of Parasi village under Tamaar police station where they killed few people allegedly involved in extortion in the name of Maoists.

The police said that they have started investigating the matter and would soon take necessary action. However, they did not reveal the exact number of people killed.

"This incident happened in the jungles situated in west of Tamaar-Tata road. As of now we do not have enough details. At the police station, we got this information that a few persons were killed. We cannot divulge any information until our officials return. The information is that some 2-3 people have been killed," said RK. Mullick, Deputy Inspector General of Jharkhand Police.
