Vasundhra to disclose details of agreement with Gujjar leaders today

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje will today disclose the details of the settlement reached at a meeting with the Gujjar leaders.

Jaipur, June 18 : Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje will today disclose the details of the settlement reached at a meeting with the Gujjar leaders.

The agreement will be signed by Vasundhara Raje and Gujjar leader Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla.

Bainsla described the agreement as historic and said the 26-day old agitation is likely to be called off today. He also expressed gratitude to both, the government side and Gujjar leaders.

The Rajasthan government and the Gujjars concluded "successful talks" late on Tuesday evening on the community's demand for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.

In Rajasthan, the total percentage of reservation for OBC, Scheduled Caste and Tribes is at 49 per cent already.

The Gujjars are classified among the OBCs in Rajasthan, but they want ST status that would give them a bigger share of the jobs and education quota pie.
