Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), July 9 : A chargesheet was filed in Muzaffarnagar today against Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Mahendra Singh Tikait for allegedly making casteist remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati.
A case has been filed against Tikait in the court at Bijnore under Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Atrocities (Prevention) Act by the police.
This is the first case of police filing a chargesheet for casteist remarks against the Chief Minister.
Earlier on March 30, a case was registered against the BKU leader for his casteist remarks against Mayawati in a public meeting.
However, he was released on bail on April 2 after he surrendered in Bijnore court.
