Kashmiri women activists protest against human rights violation

Scores of women activists took to the streets here to protest against alleged human rights violations in the Kashmir Valley.

Srinagar, July 24 : Scores of women activists took to the streets here to protest against alleged human rights violations in the Kashmir Valley.

Activists of the Muslim Khawateen-e- Markaz, the women's wing of the separatist Hurriyat Conference, staged the demonstration in the Raj Bagh area. They were protesting against disappearances and the illegal detention of innocent Kashmiris by armed forces over the past 19 years.

Wearing green colored headbands and brandishing flags, the women chanted slogans against the State Government for failing to take concrete steps to check human rights violations in the valley.

"The protest is for the prisoners who are languishing in jails despite being innocent. It is against the scores of people who were arrested and have gone missing since then," said Hafiza Jaan, a protester.
