The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation in the field of marine fisheries to be signed between India and Morocco.

New Delhi, July 24 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation in the field of marine fisheries to be signed between India and Morocco.

This will facilitate cooperation in the field of marine fisheries in order to set the principles and methods for the implementation of cooperation in training, technical and scientific research in marine fisheries and fish process industry fields between the two countries.

The MoU proposes to attach particular attention to the maritime training for the staff through the establishment of common programmes of training and qualification in the fields of fishery and aquaculture.

It further proposes cooperation between the two sides to promote the collaboration, management and achievement of scientific research programmes developed by their research institutes in the areas of aquaculture and fish resources assessment and the improvement of their management, exploitation and marketing, for the establishment of a marketing system in particular for all the distribution of these products intended for the respective markets.

The MoU also proposes that both the sides shall encourage the partnership between professionals in the fields of fisheries and related activities.
