The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to a proposal for the introduction of a revamped river conservation strategy under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP).
New Delhi, July 24 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to a proposal for the introduction of a revamped river conservation strategy under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP).
It also gave its nod for integration modalities with urban development plans of the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) and future roles of the MoUD and Ministry of Environment and Forests with respect to the revamped river conservation strategy under the NRCP.
The implementation of the revamped river conservation strategy with a holistic approach and redesigned institutional arrangements as proposed would result in grater focus on the river conservation efforts, accelerate the process of restoration of water quality in rivers reaping resultant ecological benefits, improvement in health and livelihood of the downstream people of the river.
