Exhibition organised by all women club Deepshikha Mahila Club in aid of a school
Hyderabad, July 18....Hyderabad District Collector Mr.Naveen Mittal inaugurates Deep Mela 2008, an annual exhbition of Handicrafts and lifestyle products. Mr. Mittal accompanied by his wife Ms. Rigu Mittal, inaugurated this 3 day consumer exhibition by cutting the ribbon as well as lighting the lamp. And went around over two hundred stalls displaying products ranging from garments (dress materials, ready to wear, ethnic, western, indo western, bridal collection for women, kids wear), life-style products (office & home furnishings, antique & modern decorative materials), artifacts, jewellery (gold, silver, diamond, antique & fashion jewellery), gift items etc.
The exhibition is organised to fund their adapted school Kanya Gurukul High School loacted in Ameerpet.
Addressing the gathering immediately after going around the exhibition he congratulated the members of Deepshikha Mahila Club and appreciated them for giving women entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase thier products. He added that this gesture would add to the empowerment of the women. He wished them all the success and said that the exhibition is beyond his expectation and laudaded their efforts. He assured total support from Government to their activities.
Other dignitaries who graced the occsion includes Ms. Prerna Agarwal of Imerial Gardens, office bearers of Deepshika Mahila Club Mrs Arpita gangwal, Vice President; Mrs. Priyanka Jaju, Secretary; Mrs. Neetha Jain, Treasurer; Mrs. Madhu Jain, Joint Secretary; Mrs. Chanda Agarwal, Mrs. Veena Marda and Mrs. Anjana Sanghi and others. The exhibition which begins just before the beginning of the festival season has attracted lot of people from early morning, because of the novelty of prodcuts and affordabillity. Over the many years Deep Mela has become the most sought after show and has been growing in strength to strength.
Organised by Deepshika Mahila Club, a 43 years old city based all Rajasthani women leading philanthropic organization it is an annual event being organsied for the several years successfully on fixed dates just before the festival season begins. And is being held at Imperial Garden from July 18th to 20th 2008 from 10am to 8pm. All together there are 200 stalls spread over in five pavilions and 40,000sft area. Some of the exhibitors include K.P. Collections, Creations from Delhi, Nizam State Jewellery, Beyond Gifts, Modani Kitchen Ware, Shreeji Creations, Ruchi Designer Rakhis, Alka Kriti from Jaipur etc and others. More than 15000 visitors are expected to visit the exhibition over the next three days. It will conclude on Sunday evening.
Exhibitors from Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Jaipur, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Akola, Bhopal, Nagpur, Pune, Ranchi and Kerala are showcasing their products in the three-day expo, apart from twin cities. The venue has adequate parking space for the vehicles.
Giving details speaking immediately after the inauguration of the fair, Mrs. Santosh Birla, President of Deepshika Mahila Club said the exhibition showcases merchandise from all over the country and also products from China, Pakistan, Italy and Sri Lanka. With a variety of merchandise such as linen, jewellery, designer wear, paper crafts, gift articles, silver items, designer rakhis and handicrafts available, shoppers can indulge in a wide spread of food items too.
Further, what makes this event unique this year is the products on sale from countries abroad such as Saffron from Italy, Salwar Suits from Pakistan, utility products from Korea, gifts items from China to name a few. Proceeds of the exhibition go towards the maintenance & running of their adopted school "Kanya Gurukul High School" (Telugu Medium - 500 students and English Medium - 250 students), These students come from financially weaker section of the society. A Decade and a half ago this school was a decrepit building, today thanks to Deepshika Mahila club, the children have better educational facilities in the heart of Ameerpet. In the past Deep Mela has also provided a platform to other social organizations like MSSI (A society dedicated to help people suffering from multiple Sclerosis).
Further, a Junior College is being added this year, where the Club propose to train students in the field of Paramedical and Office Assistance Courses. Young women from economically weaker sections of the society will be empowered through these vocational courses.
For those who want to relish some of the fine delicacies, there is a food court catering to a wide variety of mouthwatering chats such as Pav Bhaji, Pani Puri, Bhel Puri, Ragada patties, Vada Pav, Samosa, etc., Idli-Dosa, variety of Sandwiches, Italian food, fresh fruit juice, Ice creams, home made chocolates and cookies. Not to forget garam chai & Jalebi.
Deepshikha Mahila Club which was started in 1965 by five like minded ladies today has 140 members who have taken up many service projects for the benefit of needy.
