Visakhapatnam, July 18 : At least eight people were feared dead in a building collapse in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
A two-storeyed building in Nandagiri Nagar locality of Akkayapalam area that was housing six families collapsed following a blast feared to have been triggered in an illegal firecracker dump in the complex.
"It was a like a blast. It's a two-storey building with 16 members living in it," said Venkat Rao, an eyewitness.
The collapse also affected neighbouring buildings.
"The blast has damaged our building and my father is still in an unconscious state," said Kalavati, a neighbour.
Due to its location in a congested area, rescuers could recover one body from the rubble.
