Kullu, Jan.7 : It seems for people in Malana Village that nearly gutted down recently due to inferno, the bad time is far from over. After suffering flames, it's the turn of heavy snowfall here.
Heavy snow fall has salvaged all relief operations being ensured for the affected area. The village was under a devastating fire on Saturday night (January 5).
The nature's fury has posed a variety of problems for the rescue and relief teams, as they are finding it almost impossible to trek the six-kilometres long mountainous track to reach the village.
"Malana and its nearby areas have received huge snowfall. On January 5, I inspected that village in the evening; the snowfall had started. Since then the village has been receiving snowfall till today. According to the last information, the snowfall 2 to 2.5 foot snow was recorded," said Abhishek Jain, Deputy Commissioner, Kullu District.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has directed the administration to provide relief to the victims by providing free ration and timber for constructing houses.
"The duration to provide ration to the affected families has been increased to three months and now they will get ration for total four months. The district commissioner has told me that the relief of rupees 10,000 has been given to all the affected families yesterday," Dhumal said.
Over 150 houses were gutted in a devastating fire at this remote village in Kullu on Saturday.
Most of the residents have been left stranded in chilling winter, as nearly 70 percent of the village is located at an altitude of 10,300 feet in Himachal Pradesh State.
