Pune, Jan 29 : At least five people, including three forest officials, were injured while trying to save a leopard, which had strayed into the parking area of residential society here today.

After spotting the leopard in the parking area, residents of Pradhikaran society in Pune's Akurdi area called in the forest officials for help.

Forest officials said they faced lot of difficulties because of the commotion caused by the residents as they ran helter-skelter along with the leopard.

The leopard attacked three forest officers and two locals, including a girl, during the rescue operation.

The girl was injured when the terrified leopard entered the playground of a nearby school.

After over two-hour struggle, the leopard grew tired, officials said, adding that this made easier to trap the leopard. However, the leopard died by the evening.
