Agartala, 26 Jan : People in Tripura participated in epublic Day celebrations, defying the militant's boycott call.
The main programme was organised at the Assam Rifles parade round, where Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahay unfurled the national lag.
Sahay inspected the parade and took the guard of honour. Later, e gave the Presidents Commemoration disk to security personnel.
Addressing the citizen, Sahay said, "Tripura has made remarkable evelopment recently and many more in the pipeline."
He also praised upon the latest addition in the education and ealth sector including a central university, two medical olleges, NIT and technical institutes.
Different paramilitary forces, state police and NCC cadets articipated in the parade, which was followed by a colourful ultural programme.
Sima Saha, a participant, said "the militants boycott had no mpact of the people and they are participating in large number ere."
Anticipating possible attack by militant organizations of the egion, security has been beefed up in the state.
According to official sources, the militant organizations of ortheast those boycotted the celebrations are from United iberation Front of Asom (UIFA), Kamtapur Liberation Organization KLO) and three major groups of the state, All Tripura Tiger orce (ATTF).
