North India continues to shiver under severe cold wave

Allahabad / Shimla, Jan 25 : An intense cold wave continued to grip north India as several regions reeled under extremely low temperatures.In Allahabad, the temperature plummeted to around 2.4 degree Celsius, causing immense hardship to people particularly during the intensely cold nights.Srikanth, a priest said: "It is intensely cold in Sangam. We would have died yesterday night if there had been no bonfire. It was excessively cold."Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, the mercury touched sub-zero temperatures, freezing lakes and water pipes.Shimla recorded a temperature of minus 3.5 degree Celcius, affecting day-to-day activities of the residents. Jeetram Sharma, a resident said that the cold was unbearable."We haven't experienced such intense cold wave ever. Water pipes are frozen. We are not even able to set up shops due to the intense cold. We cannot do anything in such cold wave conditions," he said.
