India a global player to count on: Hungarian PM Ferenc Gyurcsany

Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany today said that India is an important global player to be counted on in future.

New Delhi, Jan 18 : Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany today said that India is an important global player to be counted on in future.

Gyurcsany, who was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, said: "We see India as a more and more significant global player. We see that India is a player which you can count more and more in the future."

"We came to know more of India and giving it more support to take this responsibility which comes together with the enlarging scope of movement due to the gradual improve in achievement in economy," he added.

He was received by his Indian counterpart Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The visiting Prime Minister is on a four-day visit aimed at boosting bi-lateral relations between India and Hungary.

Gyurcsany will hold delegation level talks with Dr. Manmohan Singh, this evening.

He is scheduled to meet President Pratibha Patil, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi later in the day.

Hungary, an important member of the European Union and a member of Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), supports India's candidature for permanent seat in the expanded UN Security Council.
